Looking
for a quick little summer top that gives you a chance to play with a wonderful
yarn, knits up quickly and doesn't cost too much? This is the one! Porto
Cervo in Jeans is a wonderful cotton yarn -- it feels lovely as you knit
it and makes a very pleasant fabric against your skin. The pattern is well
written and easy to follow (I never had any of those "what the...?"
moments with this pattern). I found the yarn to be very easy to work
with, with very minimal splitting. This pattern also gives you the opportunity
to learn some basic crochet skills -- the neck edge is single crochet and
the ties are crochet chain.
For anyone worried that those eyelets might end up revealing more of you than you like -- don't worry. After a full day of wearing nothing more was on display than had been when I first put it on. Also, this pattern is undergarment-friendly -- it's pretty easy to keep bra straps concealed. There's only one warning I can give to anyone attempting this pattern: the yardage suggested is a little lean. At the end, after seaming and the border, I had only scraps left (maybe a yard in total). I did the small size and knitted to gauge. I'd recommend getting yourself 1 more skein than called for of the main color, especially if your LYS has a generous return policy. |
