This
boatneck top is created with a very easy to work with yarn and a pattern
with extremely simple shaping. The result is almost instantaneous gratification.
I found the pattern to have no instructional flaws, and the finishing instructions were good from the point of view of giving you the right order in which to proceed. Seaming was a little tricky, given that it can be difficult to tell where one stitch begins and ends due to the thick and thin nature of the yarn. I also suspect that the fringe at the neckline will have to be replaced over time, as the little fringy bits are slippery and inclined to want to unknot themselves from the neckline. This will not be a big deal, however, because unlike previous projects I have done from this pattern book, there was more than enough yarn in the recommended number of skeins for my size. I'm definitely in love with this top and highly recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind paying a little extra for the yarn. I picked it up at Elann.com for $5/skein, but it normally retails for closer to $9/skein. I'm hoping the colors will be good for summer, but will also be able to work their way into fall. |
