Neck Edging

I've finished the front & back of my audrey and decided to check out the neck edging..... Now I've gone astray by not knitting audrey in calmer (using Kaleidoscope cotton by Brown Sheep), but so far, so good. until now. This neck edging is ugly, I don't like it. It comes out all in garter stitch, with the rosette pattern peeking out. It just doesn't look nice against the ribbing pattern. I'm going to try it with odd rows all being purls to see if it looks better with a stocking stitch front facing. Has anyone else given this a go yet? I'm really curious to know what you think. I've been leafing through my books for a different edging pattern......tsk tsk! Posted by Janet at April 14, 2004 04:10 PM

I've done the same thing--I knit the back and a sleeve and have now completed 6 repeats of the edging to test whether I like it or not. I'm knitting mine in the Drift colorway (off-white) and I like it. The garter stitch doesn't bother me next to the ribbing, the pattern is readily visible, and it has a nice shape when it's curved, so far. Perhaps the stretch of the Calmer yarn helps?
