Greetings from tokyo

I'm Minako from Japan. I have just joined this knit-along yesterday. I found this knit-along on someone's blog before and immediately fell in love with the Audrey. So I dared to try my first Rowan project. It's literally a big challenge for me as i usually knit only socks, gloves and such small things.

I got the latest issue of Rowan magazine in a little while but couldn't decide which yarn to use. First, I thought it is too expensive for me (beginner at not-small-project), but there was no yarn that alike Calmer around me and i thought it must be result best in Calmer, so i finally went Rowan shop to see color way and got them. The color i chose is dark grey, that would be match my black hair. The Calmer is definetely different from any yarn i considered for substitution. Very stretchy and soft.

So i started from sleeves (picture above), finished them, and now i am on first piece of body, just before darts decrease. So excited! I am going to try Tiffany's solution. I have read through past entries and comments and realized how this knit-along helps me alot. I appreciate so much.

Welcome Minako! I think you are the first to use the dark colour, it will be interesting to see how it turns out!

What is that dark grey color called? It looks so luxurious - nice choice! Have fun knitting along with all of us...

The name of the color is "Squirrel." I hope it turns well. I like bright color too, but i couldn't picture myself in Audrey knitted in those colors.

Hi - I love the color you are using too! My question is this, is there any other yarn comparable to Calmer which isn't as pricey that I could use? Any suggestions? Also, while I'm waiting for my Rowan magazine with the Audrey pattern in it, what size needles do I need? Thank you! Can't wait to see your progress!

Welcome, Minako. I visit your blog and have seen the miniatures (sometimes knit on teeny-tiny toothpicks!) you are accustomed to knitting. How fun it will be to see you bring Audrey to life!

Carol, Calmer is pricey but it is worth it. I tried if there are any yarn alike first, but couldn't found at all, at least around me.
I am using size 7 and 8 (in US size) that is same as pattern calls for.
Becky, when i was wrapped up in miniature knitting, i might be restless and got tired of things so quickly. I never dreamed that i would knit things "in human scale" someday:-)

Well Minako, I visited the local yarn shop yesterday and picked up the Rowan Magazine #35 and I bit the bullet so to speak and bought the Calmer yarn. It's beautiful, and I got it in a color called "Tinkerbell". I can't wait to get started! Wish me luck - I've only knitted a beret and a shawl. This is my first attempt at a sweater, and my first attempt at increases/decreases. But I like challenges and I LOVE Audrey Hepburn and I love this sweater. So since I paid $70.00 for the yarn you can bet I'm determined to knit it!!! Tinkerbell is a beautiful soft lilac/blue color. If I need help can I ask a few questions on here? Thank you, everyone's sweater and progress are just gorgeous!! Carol - Happy Mother's Day to all moms on the group!
