Hiya! No yarn yet, so needless to say, I have not started... but have been thinking about it (alot!) I have already knit with Calmer and just adore it! My LYS told me the yarn should be in soon... I am going to knit using the Calmer "Coral". I was wondering has anyone considered making it 3/4 length sleeves?? I would like to have 3/4 sleeves instead. Any ideas?
Posted by Christine at May 11, 2004 10:57 AMHi Christine -
I also will probably make mine 3/4 length sleeves, or maybe
7/8? I have short-arm-syndrome and I look better in very long or shorter sleeves.
What I have done (and always do) is make the body and sew it together, then I can measure properly (with help) just how long to make the sleeves, then adjust the decreases accordingly. I will let you know how it looks!
Posted by: JennyW. at May 12, 2004 05:15 PMI have long arms (I am very tall), but always seem to push my sleeves up, and I think 3/4 sleeves would look good in this pattern anyhow. When the time comes, I will ask how you did/do it! Thanks!!
Posted by: Christine at May 13, 2004 07:35 AMHey! You read my mind. I feel like this 50s-ish spring sweater SHOULD have 3/4 length sleeves, and plus, like you, I a) look better in 3/4-length, or b) always push up my sleeves. I was just going to post about it yesterday, as a matter of fact, but didn't. I was trying to work out in my mind how to work out the difference in casting on and increasing yesterday. Let's stick together on this one -- we'll be the 3/4 girls!
Posted by: Norma at May 13, 2004 12:52 PMMore on the topic of 3/4 sleeves and how the heck we are going to figure it out! Last night I was reading my just received issue of Rowan's newsletter (Summer), there is an article in the back on how to resize sleeves. If anyone wants me to send them a copy, please let me know. A fax number or a mailing address would be best as my computer at home is currently out of order and it is hooked up to my scanner.
I'm not even part of the knitalong, but I'll probably knit Audrey at some point, and I was already thinking 3/4 sleeves. I like 'em better usually, and they just seem better suited to this sweater's style. More Audrey-ish.
Posted by: J Strizzy at May 14, 2004 01:24 PMI'm glad to see I'm not the only late starter. Yesterday I ordered Calmer in Coral, then later on eBay I found the color Calmer and got it too. (Ok, so I'm an over-acheiver! ) Now I'll have to figure out which color to use for Audrey.

I have that same Rowan article, and what they describe is just about how I fix sleeve lengths... Thanks for mentioning it! Can't wait to see how all our sleeves end up!
Posted by: JennyW. at May 15, 2004 05:09 PMMy sleeves turned out to be 5/8 sleeves or as my friend calls them "bracelet length".
