Decrease Detail

Clever Sleeve Cap Decreases

First you don't hear from me for two weeks, then you get two posts almost in succession. I am very inspired by the beautiful Audreys that have been completed so far. So far, it looks like this pattern is a real winner. Over the weekend I got to feeling a bit guilty about not having started my Audrey yet.

So I followed in Becky's footsteps and decided that I would start with a sleeve and get a better feel for my Calmer and the pattern. If you want to see the full sleeve in all it's narrow glory, you can check out my main blog. I thought I would just post the close-up detail here of the decreases. Aren't they clever and neat? This gives me a lot of hope for the decreases and increases on the body of the sweater.

This sleeve has also convinced me that I need to get Audrey into my main rotation soon.

P.S. to anyone worried about getting started late -- there's still plenty of time, so don't feel rushed. I'll be knitting along with you for quite some time!

Your sleeve detail looks wonderfull, am I the only one who has been troubled by the body armhole shaping?
I think there is a mistake in the pattern, I am knitting size M. Original cast on is 102 and started on right side with P2, K2, P2...
then after all the increases and decreases back to 102. Then comes the armhole shaping cast off 5. Then the shaping makes no sense. After I cast of the 5, I am left with P1, K2, P2 etc. like your picture. The pattern states to start with P2!! I cannot remember how many times I went backwards on this first few rows, until I phoned Johanne and asked her how her finished back looks like, she is doing size S. For her there was no porblem with the pattern.
I finally finished my back and went on to do the sleeve before I start on the front.
Happy knitting!

Hi Karin, I was wondering exactly the same. I made the size L and after casting off 5 stitches the pattern didn't seem to fit any more. I followed the instructions precisely and made a p2 on top of p1 k2.. and after the decreases the pattern was perfect again. Under the arms 2 stitches are off on each piece but it is not noticeable. I can try to make a pic and post it tomorrow.

Beautiful photo, Theresa. And you pointed out something I love about the sleeve cap: the decreases. Very well thought out. I love how they look and had a lot of fun knitting that sleeve cap! :-)
