Wanna Neck?

My Audrey does!

wendyaudrey051404.jpg

I finished her body, and sewed her together last night. And tried her on. At the risk of being accused of shameless self-promotion . . . hubba hubba!

I didn't do any blocking at all (as should be evident from my photo) because I love the way the 2x2 rib naturally fits itself to one's shape. Audrey looks miserable and skinny, lying there flat. But when I put her on, well, she makes me look halfway between Audrey and Sophia, I think!

So, the neckband.

I've started knitting the neckband and will have it done at some point tonight. I'd be interested to hear how those of you who have completed Audrey have sewn the neckband to the body. The generic finishing instructions in the pattern book say to do neckbands with a "flat seam." I guess it's just a matter of trial and error to figure out what looks best.

In the comments under April 16 is my, hmm, explanation. Or, sort of explanation. It's not difficault to do it. Looking forward to see your finished Audrey!

Thanks Maud! Found them! And your explanation will be very helpful!

It looks beautiful, and very familiar (mine is in Pool also :) I just finished sewing on the neckband this morning and I basically did a variation of an "invisible horizontal seam", catching the stitches of the body and the bars of the neckband. I would advise pinning the neckband on and trying earlier than you think you should. I think both Maud and Anne did 26 repeats of the pattern. I ended up ripping out 6 of those, for just 20 repeats and it fits on the shoulders.

My Audrey needed only 22 pattern repeats in size L, I had to rip a few repeats also. I uses a kind of matress stitch and picked up *2 bars from the body (a whole stitch), 1 from the neckband* twice and than *one bar from the body (one half stitch), one bar from the neckband*. Clear as mud ? I had to do a little try-and-error as well and alltogether I sew on the neckband about 3 times before I liked the fit of it !
Have a nice weekend everybody, I'm looking forward to more finished Audreys by Monday.
Regards from Germany

WOW! You rolled Audrey out beautifully. Can't wait to see the neckband come to life, and to see you modeling it. I'm inspired to work on my own Audrey this weekend now...
