Opal 140 Man Socks
Stripey Opal 140 Man socks
How about it? My first pair of mostly identical socks. Because these are for the pickiest (but most wonderful) husband, those stripes had to match pretty well. After all he's a software engineer -- and we all know what stylin' guys they are. (Actually, he has a new job where his title is "applications architect". Apparently this requires better dressing because now he wears khakis and other nice pants and button down shirts where before he got away with T-shirts and jeans. But a computer guy, by any other name is still a computer guy. First thing he does when he gets home is get's rid of the "marketing guy clothes".)
I finished them up while hanging out with Carolyn, Heidi and Elisabeth (I hope I am remembering your name correctly! It was great to meet you, I am just lousy with names!) at Letizia's. I was pretty impressed with Carolyn as she was carrying this huge (and I mean huge) cone of wool to work on her wonderful wintery ribby cardie (scroll down... it's the lovely dark green sweater in the middle of the page). I can almost handle knitting and decreasing and talking at the same time.
Happy Man Feet
And here's the victory shot: John wearing his socks. He stayed up late so that I could Kitchener the toes and take a pic to post. And a big thanks again to Emma -- she gave me the yarn not too long after I first started my blog and inspired me to become a wild and crazy sock knitting woman. An excellent choice in colorway. I'm hoping it will be a step in a more colorful direction.

Your Cul-de-Sac looks great. I finished mine 2 weeks ago and have already worn it twice. Three of my kniting friends are also making it. We all started it independently - all in different yarns and colors. We're going to do a group picture for our local yarn shop. The new Elsebeth Lavold yarn , Silky Wool, is wonderful. I'm making the XO vest from Cheryl Oberle's Folk Vests in it.
Boy, those are some spiffy lookin' feet with their fancy duds! No wonder they're happy man feet :-)
(I will not even let my husband see these, 'cause then he'll wonder why I don't knit fabby socks like that.)
It was nice to meet you last night, and wow the socks are all done! They look great on the Man too :)
See you at the next KIP!
Sexy Socks :) !!
I know what you mean by "marketing clothes", my son is in direct sales while he is doing his college and he even learned to iron his t-shirts! He knows I'd never do THAT, hehe...
Love that color of the socks, very manly, tho, I'd love to wear that color too. When colder temps now I see that I tend to like the darker colors more, wonder why that is.
i really wish i could be wearing that ribbie tomorrow. man, i've still got about 20 rows til i get to the neck!!! (so you kitchenered when you got home? :)
I really like that colorway. Did you get the yarn online or ar your LYS? The socks look great! Love 'em.
I had to knit a little farther and then I Kitchenered. I can knit in public but I can't graft in public. John's wearing those socks today, and he even said nice things about them to his brother. So I think I did okay.
And I did get the Opal "online" if you count meeting Emma online and having her send me the Opal as a gift (and the start of our trading adventure) as getting it online. I've never seen 140 in the US, and the US distributor doesn't display pictures of the yarn. Some Euro distributors do seem to carry it and other more subtle Opal, however.
Great collection of knitted items you have there. You did a dandy job on the vest, and buttons are perfect. You might be interested in my DNA vest, given your profession, it's at: http://ca.photos.yahoo.com/starzoe222
The spiral was in Interweave Knits, and the vest is adapted from a Knitters Mag pattern. It is for a relative who knows about that DNA stuff.
