Frog in Water

Frog in Sun

Frog in Sweater
Forgive the bad pun (read the caption for the last picture again quickly for my attempt at knitting humor), but that's what I did last night. For some reason, I just totally misread the instructions for the neck-side decreases and I had to frog all the way back to the start of the armhole shaping and start again. Not sure why I misread the pattern, the instructions were clear.
I almost didn't frog. I almost left it because I didn't think it would really change the shaping all that much and I could just do the same stupid thing on the other side. And then I caught myself and did the right thing. I don't know what's come over me lately. Normally I can't bear to frog and I've done it twice on this project. I guess the knit blog ring is just a good influence on me. Either that, or I am just getting better at looking at frogging as a minor setback along the way to greatness instead of a major defeat.
Of course, then when I started again I proceeded to forget to do the decreased on the armhole. More frogging, but this time only a few rows. Now I think I am finally back on the right track!
While in this case the mistake was all mine, I did go search out the Knitter's errata to see if there was a problem in the pattern. If you're ever in need of this sort of information, you can find it here. It took me a while to track it down (is their site hard to navigate or is it just me?) so I thought I would post it for future reference.

Laughing at the cute pic of the Frog in Sweater...I will be seeing that pic whenever I have to frog in the future!
IMPOSSIBLE to navigate, or find anything, or use in any way. They need a human factors review!
Hee Hee on the pun, not the project. Good for you. I think frogging is a sign of knitter maturity. I never used to do it and have lots of projects that aren't quite right. Now I know I have to frog when I make a mistake.
If you're having trouble with this project, try to use a "life-line". Thread some dental floss through a row of knitting and if you make a mistake you can frog to the life line and all the stitches are on a holder.
Now if only we could FROG last night's Cub's game...
I've given up in despair more than once trying to find the corrections, or anything else, on the Knitters website.
I'm learning that frogging makes life better. I no longer have to cringe when someone inspects my knitting, well, no so often anyway.
Frogging is good for the soul. I decided a while ago that when you rip your work, you are not destroying stitches. You're creating a better product.
The pictures of the froggies reminded me of a lab report that a friend of mine had to write during his senior thesis as a bio major - "Frogs Who Die and the Scientists Who Kill Them."
i thought the joke was v. good!! frogin sweater...could also be "freakin" sweater, with appropriate picture at appropriate time!
That is the best-dressed frog I've ever seen.
I frog more often also - I think having a blog and knowing there are so many experienced knitters out there staring at my photos makes me frog more. In real life noone cares if your decreases aren't even but in blogland, they know.
I think I am getting better of thinking of frogging as not "losing work" but rather "improving the product". I'm also getting better as seeing my knitting as a long term investment -- if I make something I love and will hopefully love for years, it's worth a few extra hours of my time to do it right.
Fortunately the vest fronts are pretty small so I don't have to cry too hard...
...except for those Cubbies :-(
Being a Cubs fan is alot like being a Lions fan just a lot more painful.
Dad
Wish we could frog the last two nights Cubs games : (
The frog pics are really cute and add that bit of humour that I needed this AM. thanks, latifa
...i hope that you know i meant "freak in" sweater....and not, well, the other thing.:)
