One Is the Lonliest Number When It Comes to Socks

This really is the last knitting picture that I will be posting for a while (at least this week). It's the first of a pair of socks in Meilenweit Cotton Fantasy, colorway number 807. I started this sock while on the way to Maryland a few weeks back. It had been sitting on my desk for a while waiting for the toe to be sewn up and the afterthought heel to be added. Over the weekend I got that little project taken care of, so now it's time to get the second sock cast on and started.

Even though I would almost never like any of these colors in isolation, when you put them together, I find them quite appealing as a whole. I'm sure there's a color wheel discussion that I could bring to bear here, but it's late, so I'll postpone that discussion until another time, perhaps when I finish the second sock.

I did make some more progress on my project tonight. I now have one database that can almost be subsetted properly by category, which means that I can almost sort needles by the type of needle they are... i.e. straight, circular, or double pointed. Are there any other types of needles that I am leaving out of the basic category set?

Only other types of needles I can think of are the 'flex' needles (like a circ cut in half, with stoppers on the ends) and cable needles.

I've already warned DH that I'm going to be reclaiming my palm from him (or he can buy me a new one!)

Would interchangeable needles (Denise, Boye, etc.) be categorized differently, or would they just be circular?

The Maryland sock! So nice to see it done.

Are you planning to also sort by material - wood, steel, plastic, etc?

What about lengths of needles?

What a FAB SOCK!!! The colors are so unexpectedly harmoniuos and that heel keeps looking better and better - hmmmm...

Can't wait for your color discussion!

I'd like to see a category for interchangeables like Denise, and maybe evan a subset of needle size so I could know whether they were bamboo, metal, etc.

I know the one sock thing. For some reason, I can't start the second immediately after finishing the first. I like a small project in the middle. The problem is, since I tend to loosly follow a basic pattern, I forget the details. I take notes, but inevitably forget something. Like which needles I used. But the worst is that I knit at different tensions. I stay consistant through a project, but project to project varies, so I really have to work to have the second one come out the same size.

Ooooh, I'm so excited about your program! The lengths of the needles might be a good thing to add, particularly for the circulars. And I agree with whoever said the type of needle (bamboo v. metal etc...), because sometimes I buy a new pair if I prefer to use another material from the one I already have. Good Luck!

Your sock rocks! I would never have thought that particular combination would look good but I would be wrong!

Also, good luck with the Knitting PDA Program. It looks like you might have a good piece of programming at the end of your hard work!
