Filigree Finished
Is This Picture a Cheat, or What?
Yes, she's finished, but like most divas she doesn't want to come out of her dressing room until she's properly dressed and pressed. The sweater definitely needs the edging smoothed into place and the pattern detail blocked out. She also needs a button if I don't want to use one of my pearl earrings as a clasp. I think this sweater merits a trip to Tender Buttons for something special.
I've never blocked a mohair sweater before, so a new adventure awaits. I'm very open to success/horror stories with blocking mohair in general or Kidsilk Haze in specific. Hopefully this weekend my photographer and I will get the chance to give her a proper photo shoot!

Not too much water or movement. The long hairs of KSH will take any excuse to felt. I learned that on my Birch-swatches. Damp cloth under and steam iron hovering over it.
It seems it's going to be a long-term cherished "oeuvre" of yours, and reasonnably too. I vote for the exact same method as Thomas, following the good advices of my mum, that's how I care for my Birch shawl.
Sorry to differ Thomas and Stephanie...I'm in the Lucy Neatby camp for blocking KSH...cold blocking!
KSH is so delicate why use heat at all?? For my Birch I pinned and I sprayed and in the morning, a beautiful, drapey shawl with no worries of felting or damage to the delicate fabric!!
Theresa, I would pat your lovely sweater into shape, pinning out the picots, and give her a healthy cold spritz and she should blossom into a lovely, lacy, drapey jacket!!
T!
You are a TEEZ!
Can't wait to SEE this beauty in it's full glory.
I vote for the cold block, water spray method...
3 for the cold spray method !
Looking forward to seeing it worn. :0)
I have no opinion about the blocking since I've never used KSH before, but I can't wait to see this sweater all finished! It looks beautiful already, but I bet it will be even more gorgeous on you!
Oh, it looks pretty just like that so can't wait to see her full glory!
I'll be interested in seeing the cold block works. Ususally I'm in a wet block mode, but after all of that squinting I'm doing knitting what looks like my own hair in Kidsilk - I don't wanna risk it.
I've been drooling over the same Noro jacket...but I'm trying to restrain myself!
You're already doing the cold spritz method, but the other method I've had success with for mohair (assuming your blocking form is portable) is the "move the blocking board into the bathroom and take a long, hot shower without the exhaust fan" method. I typically move the delicate item on the board down to the room with the basement dehumidifier afterwards for quicker wearing pleasure...
Cold sprayed my Birch. That and 400 pins. Turned out beautifully!
Not as beautifully, however, as YOUR JACKET. That pearl earring is a perfect button!
