Goodies
Hooray! The Postman Cometh! And look what he left on my doorstep...

Now I am all ready to get started on Butterfly. Whenever I'm looking at colors on-line, especially with Noro yarn, I'm always suspicious. But these are exactly the colors I hoped they would be:

Lovely winter jewel tones always call out to me. And I think the little bits of apple green and aqua blue will provide the perfect accent punches. Now I am all ready for the incredible Butterfly Knit-Along that Jessica is hosting.
If you're thinking about knitting this sweater, drop Jessica a line. You don't have to knit with Kureyon to do the project. Claudia is using her own gorgeous handspun to create a Butterfly.
I think there will be at least one other pattern out of the Jane Ellison book that I take on:

When I showed "Fitzgerald" to John, he tilted his head to the side, considered it, I might wear that... if you make it, you should pick something that's washable, because if I liked it, I would probably want to wear it a lot
Not only an endorsement, but a yarn request. Amazing. Kureyon is definitely not washable, though. And I think it might be a little scratchy for him. Silk Garden is also not washable and I think it would overheat him. I am thinking maybe Diakeito Diadomina could be a substitute. Does anyone know whether this yarn is up to the challenge of being washed a reaonable amount? I know it's soft and that it stripes...
P.S. Those of you who guessed that John is playing Far Cry are absolutely correct!

OK, I could be the dummy here but can you show us a picture of or a reference to Butterfly...
btw, love that sweater that John likes!! greys and blacks would be nice...with a bit of wine thrown in for good measure!
I was surprized that you wrote that the Silk Garden and Kureyon are not washable! I've washed them both and they only improve, so I hope that is good news for you. I've wet blocked Kureyon and Silk Garden and they settled into lovely, even stocking stitch. I used a squeeze of lavender Suave and then a rinse with a tiny squirt of hair conditioner, which I left it. The Silk Garden is particularly soft now. I would not hesitate to wash them again and there was very little "bleeding" of dye in the rinse water, so don't let that hold you back.
You should ask Matt and Rob (Threadbear) about that Diadomina. According to their latest newsletter, they carry it now and I'm sure they would love to tell you all about it. 517-703-YARN
Wow, your Boy would wear that? Lucky duck. Mine? Never!
Susanne -- scroll down the page a bit I think the link to Butterfly is just down a few posts. If not, don't worry, I'll post a picture of the sweater when I get started.
Pubah -- I should correct myself. I know that Silk Garden and Kureyon can be washed, but not in the way my husband is thinking about it... he means "wash like my Opal socks get thrown in the wash". Or even "assume that I will try to launder this sweater while you are away on a business trip because I love it so much and that I will forget that wool and hot water and agitation don't mix". He may still end up with Kureyon (the Diadomina is pretty pricey) but I'm hoping there could be other stripey solutions out there that I don't know about.
Claudia -- The stripes surprised me, too. But I think because they are subtle and manly (read mostly brown) he's more into them. I think he also really likes the neckline... he hates the thought of anything binding him around the neck.
Based on what you've chosen for other projects, those are so your colors! I think you're gonna like knitting this one. I'm doing the Klaralund-along and chose a dye lot that is more muted, and it's still fun to see what color's next.
Great minds think alike--I picked the same colorway for my Butterfly :) I'm glad you'll be participating in the knit-along. I always enjoy reading your comments on projects.
Noro has come out with a very nice blend that knits just like kureyon. Colors are spaced like kureyons. Might be worth a check.

I'm still reeling from the beauty of Diva, and now you're moving on to the glories of Noro. I think I'll just go eat some worms, while I watch your progress on Butterfly.
I'm using #90 for the Debbie Bliss Entrelac throw. I fully agree with your appraisal of the colours, though I called them 'jewels in a fir' to myself.
