Nothing like a little water and a flat blocking board to make a rug start to take shape.

P.S. She's not quite finished yet... still got those pesky ends to weave in and the i-cord edging to apply...

That's beautiful! Will you be able to bring yourself to step on it occasionally? I don't think I'd be able to! :-)

My goodness! That's looking just fabulous! I'm very impressed--and, I am wondering along with Marie, will you be able to step on it? It's going to be gorgeous!

Lovely. I've been reading your blog for several weeks now, and it has convinced me again and again that I should take more time to better block my knitting. I don't think I'll ever have your patience, but I can try.

Theresa, I love your little rug. It will make a bright accent in your home. Sock yarn leftovers won't work, I wonder if I could just knit several strands together, not even considering the color or pattern. Might make a good rag rug?!

Isn't blocking magical? I LOVE that rug!

Just beautiful. You should hang it on the wall rather than put it on the floor!

Very nice! It's been fun watching it come together over the past couple of weeks.

Now seeing your finished rug, I definitely have to get the book. I love the colors in your rug. But will you be able to walk on it or even put it on the floor?

claudia said:

My kitties would LOVE that. And not in a good, healthy (for the rug) way.

i know you have to add the finishing touch to it, but your rug looks finished to me. great job!

Wow!!! Those colors are spectacular! I really need to pick mine back up. I've been sock obsessed lately though.

Be-yooooo-t-ful! I may have to look into this knitted rug thing...my house can use some color more than I need another sweater!

What a beautiful color combination! I never would have thought of it, but it looks great!

That is so pretty...what a fun addition to your home! You have really made me see the importance of blocking. Thanks.

The rug looks fantastic. It seems to be more work sewing than knitting. What is an icord? I have come accross this in the last few weeks but I have no idea what it looks like.
The colours really brighten up those wintery days. Have you decided where you put it in your house?

I would never have had the guts to put those colors together, but it looks fabulous. I still get a giggle out of the transformation blocking can make from bunchy, rippled ugly duckling to smooth flat swan. I suspect that some of the projects I trashed in disgust at a younger and more impatient age could have been saved with some judicious pinning and steaming.

SO pretty. And a great use for random yarn. How do you get the center done, just overlap some?

I love it!! I've been wanting to knit a rug recently myself. What book is that pattern from? It's lovely! Good job!
