Sunday was an absolutely fabulous weather day here in Chicago. It was perfectly timed with the completion of the main body of the knitting for my handspun spiral so that I could finally get a picture that captured the real colors that Matt pulled together for me.

In the last couple of pictures I took indoors, everything came out with too much yellow. While there are warmer, yellower undertones in all these yarns, the solid blue yarn really is very blue. I think that that is more apparent in these pictures.

Knitting the long strip of garter stitch that forms the spiral is only half of the battle in this project. The finishing requires a relatively signficant amoutn of effort. First all the ends will need to be woven in, then the strips have to be whip-stitched together to create the spiral shape. And then there is far more I-cord to knit than I really want to

Wow, those colors are great! And you have way way way more patience than I -- all that garter stitch would drive me nutty! I can't wait to see the finished rug.
Colors look good.. can't wait to see the finished project
The rug is going to be so cool, but I also would not be looking forward to miles of i-cord.
What about getting one of those little i-cord do-dads and crank it out on that?
Sweetie, better you than me.
;-)
I wasn't too sure about the colors when you first posted them or even the idea of knitting the rug. But after seeing the outdoor photo of the colors, I am seriously thinkning that I may need to check the book out. And with MSW coming up, plenty of time to figure out color choices.
You know you are tempting me, don't you?! As one who loves garter stitch and has tons of leftovers in coordinated colors, I like this...a lot. So if you doubled worsted weight yarns, would that work? There is all that finishing though. Hmmm. I think I might have to get the book.
