Chanel-Inspired Swatch
What do you get when you mix the following component yarns together?

Phildar Building Blocks: Clapotis, Eponge and Sunset
Something that looks like this:

Chanel-Inspired Swatch
Which, when you get very up close and personal, looks like this:

Chanel-Inspired Close-up
I know that I really need to get farther on Liberty before I get started on this project, but I just couldn't resist seeing what this yarn would look like when all knit up. The general texture is very similar to a project Becky just finished -- albeit in radically different colors. I like this swatch in small form, but I am still trying to get my mind around what it might look in the large scale of a sweater. One good omen, and a definite first for me for a Phildar experience: I got gauge on the recommended size needles. I've had to go up several sizes on my previous projects.

Is the pattern in English? I would love to make one, and don't have the French to do it, I did buy an in French Philday book but couldn't quite get through it.
The free version of the pattern (the one available at the Phildar website) is in French only. However, if you buy a copy of the Phildar Tendences magazine that contains the pattern, you can get one which contains a supplement that has all the instructions in English.
Well, honestly its a bit much for me. But that shouldn't come as a shock.
;-)
I just had to speak up today. I know Chanel and this is DEFINATELY not it. Chanel is classic, refined and sophisticated. This is sticky, gooey and...fluffy. You need to branch out into colors other than pink.
There, I said it. I feel better now. I think Knittygritty made me do it.
Well, the "Chanel-Inspired" comes from Phildar, not from me. As to whether it lives up to the Chanel heritage, that is something else entirely.
Swatching is all about determining the compatibility of a yarn or set of yarns for a particular project. For me, the jury is still a bit out, here. Which is why I made the swatch.
There has been a great deal of pink in my life for the last season or so (I look good in certain shades and it's been a color with a lot of air play in the fashion world this year), but if you look back through my project galleries, you'll see a more diverse color palette. And Liberty most emphatically isn't pink...
I love it, but that also shouldn't surprise you either! It'll be cute with jeans and those white pique ankle length pants I keep seeing everywhere.
It is a very cool swatch, the combination of textures is so unique. Pulling it off in full size form would certainly not be for everyone. If you like it, you should totally go for it!
I'm making a tank out of the clapotis yarn now and I'm so addicted to knitting it. Mine's in the pink color while yours looks like the purple...
I like the Popcorn Jacket--have you posted a link to the pattern anywhere? I'm hoping that unlike liberty the "large" size will actually be large enough for me.
Argh! I'm trying to find the pattern for the Popcorn jacket--can't get to it on the Phildar site in English or French, googled it and just can't find a link! Can you publish the link or did Phildar take it down?
