If Only She Would Publish Her Patterns

Kim Hargreaves Winter Blooms

I like this set a good deal better than the first set of offerings. Particularly Dew and Hawthorn.

Such a shame they only come in kit form.

Total sucks. I really like Evergreen - and I've even got all the yarn for it. Bad business in my opinion. Thanks for the link, though.

I agree it seems unfair when the only way to get a pattern is to buy a kit. My mom and I were admiring a sample sweater at MS&W at the Shetland 2000 booth. We found the pattern... there were lots of them printed out and available... and on asking the price of the pattern we were bluntly informed by the vendor that it wasn't available seperately from the yarn. "I can't make a living selling patterns." I'm not a business person, but it seems to me one ought to sell what people are willing to buy.

I totally agree -- I love Dew! I e-mailed Kim Hargreaves today and got back the standard "sorry, we're only doing kits for now" response... but if enough of us e-mail, maybe she'll change her mind.

those are indeed lovely patterns!! I didn't see them before. I have a good amount of Felted Tweed in my stash and would really have loved to knit the Hawthorn - yes- maybe an e-mail campaign would do the trick!!

I agree that these patterns are nicer than the first set. And yes, she SHOULD offer just the patterns. Some of us have stashes, you know!

I wish she would, if only so I could drool over them without having to hurt my eyes peering at the computer screen! I think this collection is absolutely gorgeous.

I felt the same way, but the concensus seems to be that there's no money to be made from selling patterns on their own, and I guess she (like all of us) needs to eat! I have actually just received a kit from the summer range and it is rather lovely - comes in a sweet box, tissue wrapped, tied with ribbon, with a properly printed pattern, label and button. So I think that given all this, her decision not to sell patterns is understandable and acceptable, even if it isn't ideal for those of us with stashes! (She doesn't charge over the odds for postage either).

So pretty. I like several of them. Silly Kim with the kits.

I do love the Winter Blooms collection and have decided to buy her kits although I might prefer just to buy patterns now and make yarn choices later. As Hattie noted, I'm sure Kim is trying to get her new business established. Perhaps later she'll be able to offer patterns individually or collected in book form. She's contributed so much to knitting. I want to support her business while letting her know we want patterns sold separately too.
