Looking for a Tip

This isn't really a post, but a request for information.

So I broke down and bought Handknit Holidays for myself (I had a Amazon gift certificate buring a hole in my pocket, so my good Christmas resolutions just didn't make it for this one). I really like this book. It's rare that I can go through a book like this and find something I would love to knit on almost every other page. I love the cabled tree skirt in Lopi, as an example. I'm also smitten with the Stained Glass Scarf -- a double knitting project that also received the cold man who has to wait for a bus in a windy city seal of approval. And he liked the colors.

Of course, there's no yarn store in my 'hood that carries the Artyarns Ultramerino. I managed to find the Ultramerino 4 in the desired color at WEBS but had no luck with Google or Froogle finding the Ultramerino 6 (that's not completely true -- I did find one place that sold whole bags, but I only need two skeins). Does anyone out there know of a store that sells this stuff and ships. I'm not that concerned about price -- it's only 2 skeins and its for my favorite guy -- mostly just about finding someplace reliable that has the Ultramerino 6 #3113 (brown) in stock.

I'm going to start calling suburban stores, too. But my one attempt to visit only turned up the Artyarns Supermernino which isn't really the same animal.

If you have any suggestions -- or have some that you'd be willing to sell -- please let me know!

have you tried:

They have a store locater that also lists online stores.

This book is turning out to be one of my favorites, and that scarf is also on my todo list. Well after Christmas that is. Good luck!

Loop in Philadelphia might have it http://www.loopyarn.com/. Their online store only lists some of their inventory, and I know they carry A LOT of artyarns. So, you'd have to call. The owner is great to work with. I'd highly recommend him.

My LYS carries a lot of ArtYarns so I will have a look for you tonight when I go. If they have any, would you like me to pick some up?

Call the Point in NYC (www.thepointnyc.com). I know they have ultramerino 4, and believe they have some of the 6 as well.

I think Lettuce Knit in Toronto has this yarn. Visit lettuceknit.com for the phone number. Ask for the yardage on the skien - one does a short pair of socks. They have this colour - I bought one a couple of weeks ago.

It looks like Knit Happens had the brown Ultramerino 6 back in August

You could try calling and see if they still have some in stock.

I think I saw some of this at my LYS - Imagiknit - in SF. http://www.imagiknit.com/index.html
I don't know if they have the color you're looking for, but I know I saw two weights of ultramerino there last night...
Good luck in your quest!

I'm pretty sure both Knit Happens and Stitch DC (both in the DC area) have it, and a few stores in the Atlanta area do as well. If you haven't found anything by Sunday, let me know and I'll scope about Atlanta.

Ok, I bought two skeins of it for you tonight at my LYS, as mentioned earlier (which just happens to be Lettuce Knit, as Gale mentioned). It is here in my hot little hands, so I hope you still want it! :) I will mail it to you tomorrow if you want

Hi, How is the pattern working out for you. I've heard there are a lot of errors in the patterns in this book and that the instructions are not at all clear. I find myself yearning to buy it anyway. What has been your experience so far?

I'm looking at the instructions for this scarf in the book and it looks like it takes FOUR skeins. Two of each color.

Weirdly, Ultramerino 6 in brown and Ultramerino 4 in the variegated lighter color.
