The Grey Socks Continue

Election nights are always good for knitting. For once, I enjoyed watching the election results, too. I apologize to anyone who might not share my opinion, but I am totally excited by the fact that a woman will likely be Speaker of the House. There are only a very few offices of government left where women have not had the chance to make a mark. I do hope that in my lifetime we will see a "Madam President".
Politics aside, John's socks progress. I am a bit concerned that they may be so fraternal as to have rejection potential. I've also made one small change in the second sock. The first sock was a bit loose in the foot. Not so loose as to require ripping, but loose enough that I thought it wouldn't hurt to take a few stitches out on the second one. So for the first sock, I did 76 stitches all the way from top to bottom. For the second sock, I did 76 stitches on the top and have decreased to 72 stitches on the foot. John has rather narrow feet, and I don't want the socks to be too baggy -- even if he did tell me that it wouldn't be so bad because then he could wear this pair over another pair, one of his favorite things to do in the winter.
I suspect a couple more nights will bring this pair to completion, and then it will be time to let him pick again. Although I may rig the election process and make the selection process for him.

I, too, am quite pleased with the election results. And boy doesn't that feel good for a change!
It makes ya kinda feel there is hope, doesn't it?
I too try to leave politics of my blog but when the change is so wonderful and so momentus it's hard not to say something. Madam President would indeed sound great.
I think the American people have spoken & they want change. I'm actually proud to be an American for the first time in a while.
Madam President sounds good... I'm also pretty thrilled with the good chance that we might have an africian american president in the near future. Politics isn't just a Good Old Boys club anymore!
It's so nice for a change to have voted for some people who actually WON!
Go, Madame Speaker!
I vote you rig the election for the next project. Expecially since Rogue is turning out to be a bit of a challenge.
Madame President....Has a nice ring to it. Go ahead rig away! It's a win-win anyway!
Ms. President sounds better to me. What's with the Madam/Madame? Do we call the President "Sir President"? (I didn't dare to hope, but woke up to a happy day on Wednesday.)
A question re yesterday's post: I'm a relatively new knitter and would LOVE to hear you wax eloquent on the subject of yarn. You said something like knowing what you know now you wouldn't necessarily have chosen a two-ply for a cable-y pattern. Why? What would you choose instead? Say more about what you know now. I'm REALLY interested!!!--Laura
I like the subtle pattern from the sock yarn. it adds interest while keeping them manly.
I second everything said above, including the request to explain a bit about your choice of yarn for the Rogue.
And you don't need to apologize for expressing your views, IMO.
