The Fourth Star Block

Here you have a block surrounded by the last of my four background fabrics. I chose the background to complemen the pink and purple tones in the flowers in the diamond shaped pieces. And I think, in the end, the two sets of fabric complement each other quite well.
From a construction perspective, this block started off well. In fact, up until the point I seamed the two large rectangles together to form the final square, I thought this block would be almost perfect. But, as you can see, there are issues with the center of the block, where one of the diamond points looks rather sharply out of line. Everything else lined up well, however, so I couldn't see a way to fix it that wouldn't have left me with an equally obvious/visible problem in a different part of the block. So I've left it the way it is. I think perhaps that when it is quilted and in active duty, it will be less noticeable than it is now.

Even with that issue with the center (I actually only noticed it on the left side until you mentioned the center), it looks great. I love how the background fabric recedes allowing the star to more fully show through.
I think things like this tend to be less noticeable once the entire piece is together (that is certainly true at least of the quilts my mom made).
I agree, people won't notice when it's all put together. The impact of the total piece will take their breath away.
It's only when we're working on it, up close and personal, that these things stand out.
I love seeing all your beautiful quilt blocks in progress . . . it almost makes me want to start quilting again! Hope you and your passenger are doing well!
I am not a quilter, but occasionally dabble in sewing. I was looking at your design, and noticed that the patterned fabric pieces for the star were carefully matched. How do you start cutting these pieces so that they match? I'm thinking there are so many different stars within the quilt, that it must be a very organized process!
Didn't notice til you pointed it out. It's coming along beautifully.
I didn't notice until you pointed it out, either. Shh, no one will notice once it's done.
Still looking good! All these squares are beautiful.
Love the colors on that one. Congrats on passing your glucose test.
