Three Cheers for My Pancreas

In the category of "Too Much Information"....

I passed my three hour glucose tolerance test with flying colors. Woohoo! Happy dancing and Snickers bars all around!

And all my numbers were well below the threshholds they needed to be below in order to pass.

The copious whining about tests in pregnancy will now come to a halt -- at least for a little while. Thank you to everyone who provided good words and support. I know it's a little thing, but it certainly became a big thing in my head.

Happy Mother's Day to everyone out there celebrating the holiday. And a most excellent weekend to everyone else. May you all have the lovely weather that's expected to be here in Chicago for the weekend!

I don't blame you in the slightest for whining. That glucose tolerance test still brings memories of nausea to me almost ten years later. I have been enjoying your quilting posts, the squares are beautiful!

Congratulations on passing the test. :)

Yipppeee! Passing that test is one less thing to worry about...now you can relax and enjoy your first official Mother's Day!

Good job. I always hated that test. That stuff is nasty!! Have a great weekend.

Happy Mother's Day!

Oh good! Yea for Teresa's Pancreas! Hip Hip Hooray!

I suggest you celebrate by going out for Mother's Day Brunch. You deserve it. Unless of course you loathe brunch for some reason, in which case go for dinner. Or go for broke and do both. This will be your last chance to do that probably for at least a few years.

Ahh don't worry keep whining.. we who have been there understand completely.. there is always the old fill your bladder then sit in the waiting room for a hour while the baby jumps on it then we will poke a prod it with the ultrasound test!

YAY for the passed test!

You're in Chicago, too. That's so mean. My parents are there for a conference this week and I think they're going to travel a bit around the lake after that's done. And I won't even get any yarn *whine* because my mother's not a knitter... Hey, but you might now of a yarn _and_ fabric store! Maybe I can get her to look at that, she does sew....

I knew you would! As a fellow one-point-"failer" of the one-hour, I often wonder why they don't fix that threshold ... I'm sure there's data out there that indicates how many people go on to fail the four-hour after such a near miss on the first one ... Hmmm... I may have to do a medline on this one!

Congratulations to you & your beta cells; I'm glad you weren't subjected to more testing & worry on the Islets of Langerhans. Happy Mother's Day!

I am glad you did well on the GT test. Have a great weekend.

That's such a looooong test, and no way to wash that icky taste out of your mouth! Glad to hear it's done, and that your results were good!

I think I'm jealous. I didn't pass that stupid test, and I had to poke my finger 4 times daily until the short person was born to test my blood sugar levels. I absolutely hated it.

Yay! That's a pretty good Mothers Day present.

Well done on the, as my friend calls it, the electric kool-aid test! And happy, happy on your 0th Mother's Day.

That's great! Congratulations!

hurray! i hate that test. i always throw it up and have to do it twice!
so i am very proud of you!

Congratulations to you! And don't worry about whining -- it's perfectly normal. The tests and appointments can be overwhelming at times.

Congrats to you on passing the supersaturated sugar concentration drink. I flunked all three times with mine. There is just something so wrong about making a pregnant woman drink that nasty sweet stuff that early in the morning on an empty stomach And I say if you want to whine, go ahead whine on.

What good news! Go, pancreas, go! I had to suffer through the three-hour too, and that was the test that REALLY put me off the doctor's office--in fact, the whole OB experience! Here's hoping the rest of the pregnancy is stress-free and relatively test-free. :)

PS they haven't stuck me since then. I'm 36w today.

Silly me, I commented on your earlier post way after it was all over in real time. Glad it went well!

Congrats! I had to take that test twice. the first time I got really sick, and the second time I failed it. Good luck the rest of the way!
