One Sleeve, Two Sleeves..

Two Sleeves for Lollipop

Thank you to everyone for the encouraging comments about my starry quilt top. I think that my sewing machine is going to be a little quiet for a while as I work on some fiber projects that need my attention, such as Lollipop. I'm finding knitting to be a very pleasant pursuit right now, as I can put my feet up, be still and let my fingers travel over my needles while the baby does her little dances. I thought that as she got bigger, she'd settle down some, but she's still as active as ever. And as she gets bigger, those motions get somewhat more distracting. Knitting also has another benefit -- my belly doesn't get in the way. Funny how sometimes I just forget that it's there and bump it into things!

This little sweater now has two sleeves. Even on tiny needles, when I sit down to work on them, the baby sweater pieces just seem to fly. A whole sleeve in a few hours in an evening? Certainly a first for me, if you don't count any of my sweaters worked in bulky yarn. The Cashcotton is a nice yarn to knit with in the summer, as well. It stays fairly cool to the touch and doesn't get that slightly sticky feeling wool sometimes gets for me when I knit with it when my hands are warm -- and right now my hands (an the rest of my body) are almost always guaranteed to be warm.

Onto the back of this sweater!

When I was pregnant, my cat would like to sleep curled around the side of my belly. Towards the end, Baby Emma was so active that she kicked hard enough to scare the cat. It was also amusing to watch a dinner plate dance around on my belly when she went into her evening calisthenics!

Don't worry--she'll be more and more active. Around 30 weeks I was saying the short person was playing soccer. After 35 weeks, he was kickboxing. And for whatever odd reason, I couldn't seem to get comfortable to knit the last month or two. And sleeping was also interesting. I learned that locally, Dr. Phil comes on at 3 am, and Montel comes on at 4 am. And yes, they were the best of a bad lot of tv that comes on at ungodly hours of the morning.

Lollipop is too cute, Theresa! If Baby Z is active, that's a good sign, no? Just keep doing what you're doing and you (and she) will be fine.

Oh, you just wait til she gets so big that when she plants her feet against your diaphragm and pushes, she literally winds you. Talking from experience... ;-)

It's great to have an active baby! Then you don't have to count movements or worry about that. Mine was still jumping around when I was in labor and she's a fidgety baby on the outside too - she always wants to be DOING something. I think that means I have to teach her to knit. ;-)

Your sleeves (and quilt too) look fabulous! What fun! Get as much knitting as you can in now. Then, when she arrives, learn to knit while nursing! That totally kept my sanity intact in those first few months!!!

Greetings, I have been lurking for a good while now... must unlurk :-) IME seeing a mainstream practitioner is like a pregnancy pandora's box. I know it is hard, but try to trust your body and know that it is doing just what it should be. With my second, I got a midwife, and left the MD in the dust LOL. That said, 80-100Gm of protein a day and a good amount of liquid does wonders for a healthy pregnancy. Am loving your blog, pregnancy chatter and all (I ADORE being pg, could do it at 36 weeks for the rest of my life--seriously!). Gestate on girl.... and don't forget to knit! ;-)
