Separated at Birth?
I now know who my baby looks like. I've started on a project to take a picture of her every day during her first year.

Zosia at 2 Weeks
This one is from late last week. Recently, my dad sent me some photos from his archive. He was very active in black and white photography at the time and took some beautiful pictures.

Clearly, these babies are related... My poor husband definitely got cheated on this one!

your husband still has a chance - watch the changes in that first year, especially looking at her from different angles, her position when she sleeps, check her hands and feet too, the shape of her head, mannerisms....all three of my children looked like me, my poor husband tried to find anything about him in them, finally discovered my oldest (when she went to elementary school) looked the most like him, she walks like him too; they all are personable like him....
My first son looked just like my dad from behind when he was tiny: same head shape, same ears sticking out like open car doors. It was too cute since he and Papaw were buddies! Now though, he looks more and more like his dad (my ex) every day.
She will change over time, so expect it! Your poor husband will get his time eventually!
It is such fun to see them develop and who they look like. She is an absolutely beautiful little girl. Daily photos are a wonderful idea. You will all enjoy looking through them over the years!
You will be amazed watch her grow and change. Sometimes the mannerisms of my children caught me off guard as I realized they walked or laughed or even had the same food preferences as relatives.
My daughter looks like her dad, walks just like her paternal grandmother, has my hair and one of my sons has the food preferences of an uncle to the point of not eating eggs if they have been in the fridge more than 2 days. Strange how genetics crosses over.
A picture a day is a great goal. When you have a second one it will be a picture a month and on the third birth it will be a stale graham cracker in the baby book!! :-)
They change overnight-you will love watching her change and grow. It was a small shock when mine lost that "new baby" smell overnight.
My husband and I have one son that looks like each of us. His is the eldest and mine is the youngest. But in personality, they switched. Maybe baby Zosia will have John's personality.
Don't worry about it too much right now. My son looked like a little clone of his father for the first few months. Everyone would look at the hubby, look at the baby, and tell my husband, "He looks just like you!" It got to the point where my husband started answering, "No he doesn't. I'm taller."
Now that he's 10 months old, I'm starting to see a bit more of me in him--I think he's got my eyes (but I hope he gets daddy's vision--dad still has 20/20 and I'm blind as a bat without my glasses). And the poor kid has my temper. I now feel much sorrier for my mother. But at least that temper goes with his daddy's red hair.
Our oldest looked just like Mark until a growth spurt at 12, now he looks more & more like my brother every day. I'm sure your hubby got just what he wanted, a little girl who looks like her mama.
Everyone thought I looked just like my mom when I was a baby, but I turned out looking most like my paternal grandma (it's eerie, seeing pictures of her when she was young), except for my mom's nose which stuck with me, and I have all of my dad's mannerisms, style of walking, etc. My brother, on the other hand...he has always looked exactly like my mom, and I do mean exactly, and yet somehow neither of them looks strangely masculine or feminine. There's a picture of my mom, with her hair all beehived and dressed up for first communion, which I at first thought was a picture of my brother in a wig and a dress (hey, at that age we played a lot of "dress-up"!).
What a resemblance! Both such sweet girls. Love the idea of a photo a day, maybe I'll be able to handle one a week...
Me and my daughter are twins, I'm constantly comparing my baby pic's with what she looks like now.
Oh how precious!! Both of you:)! There is a great line from our family (strong genes), when a friend of my niece happened upon her in a store, along with her two boys and the friend looked at them and said..."Does he even have a father?"...out of context it sounds bad but the resemblance of the kids to their moms, dads, aunts and uncles is stunningly similar! Photos unless dated, are difficult to figure out. So just like you, the genes are strong and passed on well! congrats again on such a beautiful bundle of joy.
Look at those two *beautiful* babies! :)
Hi Theresa,
Congratulations on the new baby! When my first daughter was born, I told myself that I would take a picture of her everyday for her first year. Well, twenty-two months later, I am still taking pictures of her everyday. It is a compulsion for me now! I don't know when I'll ever be able to stop. And now that I have a two week old daughter, I have to keep up doubly as much. My initial idea was to see if I could detect when the changes happen, but nay, you just can't see it. And, since you can't get them into the same pose everyday, you can't do a "flip-book" effect to see it happen. Also, your kid will get REALLY sick of the camera. My toddler hardly looks at the camera anymore...probably because mommy has blinded her with the flash too much!
Beautiful baby! It sounds like you're feeling good and hopefully getting plenty of rest. The one-year photo project is a great idea. My family was so terrible about taking pictures; I can't wait for my baby to get here so I can get started on the scrapbooks. Thanks again for keeping us posted on life with baby.
awwww! yes, your daughter definitely looks like you. your hubby didn't get cheated. i'm sure he cherishes that she looks so much like you.
Hah, perhaps a little cheated, but babies change constantly. And you can always try for #2!! j/k :-)
I would say identical!
Your baby is beautiful! Look at those long fingers!
Oh she is so beautiful and those fingers are amazing, did you buy the piano already?
And how!!!
what a marvelous treasure you will have..we thought we took a lot and wish we had more
I have pics like that of ds and myself! But it may have been a trick of the photos because the kid has always looked like his father, down to the same patterning of hair on his back. Personally I think babies look like their fathers as an evolutionary strategy-so daddyo doesn't toss them on the refuse heap because he thinks somebody else is daddy. (joking!-well mostly).
I find that my children change all the time, sometimes they look like me, sometimes their dad, sometime I don't know who they look like! Isn't it nice to have the capability to take digital photo's? I love the black and white photo of you, that is priceless!

I love to see how babies resemble their parents or other relatives when compared to earlier photos. Kind of a reinforcement of family.
My DD looks much more like me, except her ears. Her ears are exact copies of DH's ears. A neighbor first pointed this out, it had escaped our notice.
So beautiful! When my oldest was born he looked EXACTLY like my father in law. Yet I have 3 pics one of each of my sons and one of me all at the same age and you cannot tell who is who!
ah! my dad and i looked alike.
now i look like me mom :-)
yeah for you!! There is absolutely no evidence that I actually am the mother of my 1st born!! He looks and has never looked a thing like me!!!
She's adorable!
Congrats on the beautiful baby! :)
Congratulations! She is such a cutie. It's amazing how much she looks like you in your photo. It'll be fun to see the changes that happen in the next few months.
