Phil'Onde Baby Sweater Body
I've managed to finish the body of the Phil'Onde baby top. It still falls into the category of "strange looking garment", but at least it's getting closer to the finish line. This top will have a lot of volume in the back, given where the armholes are placed. I think it's still going to be pretty large on Z when it's finished, but the farther I get, the more I think it's going to be pretty cute. I just wish I had a few more pictures of the completed garment so that I could be sure that I understood all of the finishing instructions.True to normal form with Phildar patterns, all the collars and cuffs are knit separately and sewn on. So that will be the next step in this project, and then I'm going to have to find some pretty buttons. I'm just dying to get this project finished, because I have a truly spectacular project coming up to work on next, and I also want to work on making Z some hand knit toys. It seems like we have a lot of those plastic made in China toy store toys coming home to roost at our house, and I would really love for there to be some soft toys that were made with love in Z's own home.
Happy Valentine's Day!
John and Z and I will probably be celebrating by ordering pizza from a local organic pizza place and watching Mythbusters. Not as romantic as some of our Valentine's Days past, but just as special because this year I have a new tiny Valentine in my life.
Happy Valentine's Day! I got homemade valentines from my boys when I woke up this morning--big payoff for all the late nights, early mornings, and missed dates of the baby years!
It sound's like a perfect plan. A colleague of mine just asked what my Valentine's day plans were and I told her that the family and i will be eating pizza followed by fundue etc, etc. She stopped me and said that she meant just my husband and I. It was weird because it never occurred to me to exclude my girls from the festivities.
The sweater looks really cute by the way. Can't wait to see modeled shots.
Happy Valentine's Day! I think the sweater is so cute. So - will you just make the collar separately and sew it on? I've done a few Phildar patterns just as written, and then some I just pick up stitches to do the collar. Hope you guys have a great v-day!
Well since our wedding anniversary is one week after Valentines day we dont do anything special, but organic pizza and Mythbusters sounds so fab! We like to see who can read whats on Jamie's shirt first(it's usually something he said on a previous show).

She has some fascinating knitted toy patterns. The crazy thing--we went to public school together, never kept in touch, and then someone posted her patterns on a parenting group I'm in, LOL.

I knit and felted some adorable teddy bear hand puppets from Knits from the Heart by Kristin Spurkland (and made and elephant using her basic pattern and ear and trunk ideas from the little elephant in Last Minute Knitted Gifts- I later knit the elephant from LMKG too). Fiona McTague has some cute animal and doll patterns in her (2?) knit toy books, Debbie Bliss has some very cute bears and bunnies and I love all of the animals and people (arranged by eco-system) in Kath Dalmeny's World of Knitted Toys. My daughter and I have also done the little monsters (they make a great "boo-boo" bag if you put an ice pack or heated rice bag inside) and finger puppets from Knitty. Toy knitting+fun for knitter and giftee!
Sounds like a lovely Valentine's Day celebration to me! We were offered Grandmom's babysitting services, but I can't think of anything I'd rather do than stay home and cuddle my little one :)
