Today is a very special baby's birthday. I can hardly believe that my tiny baby girl is well on her way to becoming a vibrant and active toddler. I've spent the better portion of the day wondering what I was going to say about what it meant to me to have a one year old baby. All I can say is that I still feel incredibly blessed to have been able to bring her into this world. I feel so lucky to have been able to go through all the experiences, good and bad, that are part of the first year of motherhood. I thought today, rather than rehash the year in words, I would share a collection of photos from my photo a day project that have not already made it onto my blog, and let you watch Ms. Z grow from month to month.

Happy Birthday! How wonderful to see you grow this year! My friend has a photo frame with 12 spaces for pictures and she has a picture of her son from each month of his first year (he just turned 1 also on July 3).
So sweet - brought a little tear to my eye. My granddaughter just turned 20 months old &, when we took my daughter & the kids to the Dells for a few days early this month, she started calling me grandma (well, Andma) & it was so thrilling - just as much as when her 2 big brothers did - maybe more because she is likely my last grandchild. As a mother of 2 30-something girls & 3 grands, I would advise you to savor every moment you can. They fly by so quickly!
She is so beautiful. My baby is a month away from the big "1" and I can't believe it. I look back at old pictures like you did and can't believe the tiny little (immobile) thing he used to be!

Hi Theresa, I have been reading along for a while now, but haven't had a chance yet to jump into the comments. My son was born in August last year, just a little after Z, and I have found your reflections on motherhood to be so beautiful and honest - and, of course, so timely to my experiences. The knits have been beautiful too! (And I know how hard-won each stitch of a knitting project can be with a small baby around.) On the occasion of Z's first birthday, I thought I'd finally jump in to wish you all a huge congratulations!
