Pile of Squares

With hanks of what used to be Banff drying in my bathroom and the daily meditation alpaca scarf not quite ready for the camera, out comes a pile of squares.

These are the squares for my 3-ply targhee blanket. Each square is about 1 ounce and about 6x6 which means that the final blanket is going to be on the heavy side if I get it to twin size like I hope to.  There should have been two more squares when this picture was snapped (but they were separated from the herd for weighing duties) and there have been two more knit since then (and one that is in progress), but even without those squares, I still have a pile of squooshy goodness, thick and soft.

As I have from the beginning, I love the rich colors of the yarn -- all mill ends from Mountain Colors.  I'm particularly smitten with their blues and greens, which can be both rich and electric, and their yellows which are warm and deep.  As I was taking these pictures, I realized how autumnal they seem together, so, I am hoping that sometime in the future they will be supplemented with some additional color melodies.

Beautiful colors there in your pile o' squares. They will be gorgeous as a blanket. Can't wait to see it! Plus, when I'm cold at night, I really enjoy a weightier blanket to make me feel particularly cozy. I think it will be fab!

I nominated you for an award on my blog. Hope you don't mind. I really enjoy your blog.

Those colors are really beautiful and I think when blue is put together with orange, there's something almost magical about the pairing.

Ibegan weaving some seven projects ago. I use a fixed heddle loom. I hope to graduate to tapestry loom soon. Any way I have a question. What kind of a knot is adjustable? I have searched, read etc. I am baffled. The lack of an adjustablr knot is making my weaving difficult. A person needs an adjustable knot to obtain even tension when warping. Most books etc. simply say "tie on your threads". This doesn't help. HELP ME.

thank you, MaxMorris

I am doing a somewhat similar project only the squares are half white and half color...I am hoping to get to...KING size...should keep me in tv knitting for YEARS!
One of my considerations is whether I should put a backing on it and quilt it...have you given that any thought with yours?
