So, the individual Skew socks are sort of funny and un-sock looking on their own. Rather, I should say, they lack the straight on look of a standard sock. And flipped over, the heel looks like the funny little protruberance on the back.
They definitely need to be worn in order to be appreciated.
P.S. While browsing about at the Loopy Ewe over the weekend I came across the right sized Hiya Hiya circular needles, as well as the Addi Turbos for lace. One of each was ordered so that I could try magic looping with a nicer cable. Oh, and there might have been some Wollmeise and bits and bobs from Namaste that just fell into my cart as well. I'm looking forward to testing out a batch of trendy goodies soon...

That looks fantastic! I'm about halfway through my second Skew with the Kaffe Fassett Regia yarn. Then I've promised to knit a friend a pair. I didn't like knitting socks until I came across this pattern!
I actually bought a skein of zauerball to try Skew with. It looks like the kind of yarn that this stuff is meant for. I also bought a really tiny circular. Hopefully this circular will be exactly what I was looking for and I can stop looking for dpn tubes to protect my work and my bags while on the road.
I am currently working on a pair of these and I am finally up to the heel watching a sock appear out of a very strange shape. I just may have to knit another pair to see the magic happen again.

Those are HOT socks! They'll keep your feet warm from the color alone. Very nice! You're right. They look odd until you put them on feet. Then they are really pretty.
