I blink....

and its 2012.

Wow.

And the silence of the blog might make you think that I've been doing nothing but working.

Which is sort of true.

But would leave out:

  • The fun I've had making pin boards over at Pinterest.  I think it's my new favorite social networking site.  Looking at other people's pins gives me lots of ideas.
  • The fact that I have a new crush on novelty ribbon yarns like Katia Triana and Trendsetter Cha Cha and that I made 4 of these scarves before New Years and have started 1 of these.  The scarf is deceptively easy and is highly likely to make you the recipient's new best knitting friend. My only regret is that I gave three of them away as gifts and didn't get to photograph the whole group together.
  • Making play dough for the kiddo using this recipe and McCormick's so-called neon color food dyes.  The small person had great fun with it.
  • Making 2 batches of these Double Chocolate Cookies and a batch of these very fun and extremely easy Peanut Butter Pretzel Bites -- I glitzed them up for the holidays by dipping them in sugars, nonpariels and jimmies.  I tested out a molasses cookie recipe as well, but that one didn't give me the results I was looking for.
  • Downloading Rainmeter and customizing my computer desktop -- I can spend hours downloading skins and playing with things and not getting bored.
  • All the time I've spent with my elliptical

Life is fun, but I don't get as much time as I would like to document it.

I think my only goal for the new year is to get back in touch with the programmer girl... she's been AWOL for a while and I miss her.

Hi Teresa! Nice to see that you're still blogging and knitting! I'm back knitting again, after two, or is it almost three years of doing almost nothing. A pair of mittens are right now blocking and the second pair on the needles, both waiting for clearer skies in order to be pictured for the blog :)
It's very fun to surf around and see who of the bloggers are still around, to look at pictures of kids grown up or being born. A few are not blogging any more, but many are. Have a good year Teresa!

I know what you mean about time flying by. Happy New Year!

It sounds like your year has been busy. There is nothing wrong with not updating us on your life, though we enjoy reading about it.

I've made the peanut butter pretzel bites (slightly different recipe, but the same idea). I've made those a few times and they go like hotcakes each time.

Glad to see you back. Missed you! Sounds like you've been having fun, though. If you want a molasses cookie that will SATISFY, try this one (shamelessly stolen from Cami at Camillaknits.blogspot.com) It's not written out in the standard recipe format, so read the whole thing to make sure you have all the ingredients.

The cookie recipe:
cream together 1 1/2 sticks softened butter with 1/2 c. dark brown and 1/2 c. white sugar. Add 1/3 cup molasses, 1 egg, and 1 tsp. vanilla and mix well.

Separately, blend all the dry ingredients together: 2 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon, 2 tsp. ground ginger, 3/4 tsp. ground cloves, and 1/4 tsp. allspice, and 2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour. Mix into molasses mixture until the dough is on the 'firmer' side of cookie dough. I usually end up using an extra 1/4 to 1/2 cup of flour, but this varies with the weather. Drop by cookie scoop onto a parchment-lined sheet and chill dough balls at least two hours. Before baking, roll dough balls in more white sugar. Bake on parchment paper at 375 for approx. ten minutes, or until the edges of cookie appear 'done', but the middles are still slightly underbaked-looking. Let them cool on pan for a few minutes before attempting to move them to a cooling rack (or your mouth). Enjoy.

Oh, I love you (in that found-the-perfect-blog kind of internet love).

I came looking for knitting inspiration, which I found in abundance...and then found your post about reading and came across the name Terry Brooks.

I read The Sword of Shannara in high school, when it first was published. I lost that book and never realized there were more books. I have been trying of late to remember what book I had read or who wrote it.

And here, I found it here! The name Terry Brooks fairly glowed on the page...and a quick online search showed me the long-lost title.

Serendipity...books and knitting. All in one place.
